Jeju Island

Jeju Island(제주도) is a volcanic island located in the southwest of the Korean Peninsula. It is the most famous island of Korea. Jeju Island(제주도) is warmer than other cities even during the cold winter months. We can feel refreshen from the ocean breeze throughout the year. Moreover, there are unusually-shaped black rocks from the past volcanic activity. These make Jeju Island(제주도) be the most attractive place.

Beside the nature of sea in Jeju, the Hallasan Mountain(한라산국립공원), Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak(성산일출봉), and the Geomunoreum Lava Tube System(거문오름용암동굴계)
are recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2007. Hallasan Mountain(한라산국립공원) is the most prominent geographical feature rising out from the center of Jeju Island. Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak(성산일출봉) is where we can do the volcanic eruptions' study because of its sedimentation. While the Geomunoreum Lava Tube System(거문오름용암동굴계) is one of the most widest lava tube caves in the world.

Unfortunately, I didn't try going to these places. I only went to the seaside. Next, I will show you how to travel along the seaside of Jeju Island ;)!

This Jeju trip happened unplanned again. LOL. I went there ALONE to take picture of some event. Well, actually going to travel there with my Chinese friend who is currently studying in Korea. There are many airlines offering a route from Seoul to Jeju as Korean Airline, Asiana Airline, Jeju Airline, T'way Airline, etc. Actually I can book Asiana Airline since I can get a staff price because it is partnered with Thai Airway(as my dad is working for Thai Airway). But the flights were really over booking! There is no use if I book stand-by ticket of Asiana Airline anyway. So I decided to buy it with a full price! I don't know what happened on 25 October but every airlines were FULL. There is Jeju Airline left so I booked it. Actually I want to depart and return on 25  but the return flights are all full for 25 and even on 26. So I book the return flight on 27. I supposed to go there alone but LUCKILY, my friend were going there too! YAY! and since there was no flight back on 25 so I told her to go back on 27 with me and after we finished our task on 25 then we can go travel to the seaside together. The flight were really full that I flied different flights with my friend :((

For domestic flight, we need to go to Gimpo Airport! I arrived at the Gimpo Airport at 5 a.m. There were tons of people. You know why? hahaha because there are around 20 singers and idols flying to Jeju on 25. No wonder why all the flights were full. T_T So there were like tons of fanclubs and also the reporters. I even walking inside the gate with some of the idols... eventhough there were a lots of people but it wasn't that out-of-control situation. There were just a fans coming to take a photo as well as the reporters.

Jeju Airline is a low cost airline. The airplane is small but since it is only a 50 minutes flight so I think it was okay^^ and there is no business class but their service are great too! The air stewards were really friendly and nice. They served water and juice during the flight. There were menu of snacks that you need to buy if you want. As soon as I arrived the Jeju Airport, I took a taxi to meet my friend and we went out to the event. At night, my friend since she can speak Korean very very well so I let her lead! hahaha for the transportation in Jeju, taxi is the best! haha or you can use bus!!
+ You can rent a car to drive in the Island!!

We took taxi to the Black Pork Street(흑돼지거리). It is not only for pork! The street is full of seafood restaurants!! but my friend said it is a MUST to eat the Jeju Black Pig. It is a small pig with black skin. It is said to have a unique taste and differ from the normal pork. I don't know but my friend said it was really delicious!!! The restaurant also gave us a spicy crab soup. It tasted so good along with the cold weather. I ate the abalone, also called as ear shell. It was cheap in Jeju Island;P and it tasted super deliciousT^T!!!!!

Then we went to the hotel for a rest since we were super tired from carrying DSLR camera and lens since morning. We slept and decided not to set an alarm for the next day because we were lazy. Hahahaha

On 26 October, we woke up at 1 p.m. Then we decided to go to the seaside! We ate soft-boiled rice for breakfast at the restaurant nearby the hotel.

Then we took a bus to Woljeongri Beach(월정리해변). Since we booked hotel near the airport so it is kinda far from the seaside. Taking taxi might be too expensive so we used a bus.

It took 1 hour from our hotel to Woljeongri Beach(월정리해변). We took bus number 701 to Woljeongri(월정리). When we got off the bus. You can see a small lane called Woljeong 7-gil(월정7길) opposite of the bus stop. Just walk straight inside to the beach.

If you rent a car, you can drive on the shoreroad to Woljeongri(월정리).

The beach was absolutely beautiful! Blue sky and sea water as well as the white soft sand!! It was a paradise! The beach was very clean and peace. There were many couples taking their pre-wedding photos when we were there. There were not many people as usual because it was cold at that time. You won't find the seafood restaurants nearby the beach like normally but instead, there were many cute cafes around the beach^-^

We spent a couple of hours there then we walked around finding something to eat~!

We ate the spicy seafood noodle(해물짬뽕라면) and Korean-style seafood pizza(해물파전). The Korean-style seafood pizza included many vegetable ingredients unlike the normal pizza. And for the spicy seafood noodle(해물짬뽕라면), it is like the whole seafood together in the spicy soup! LOLL.

Since we took a bus, we needed to go back early. The last bus is 6 p.m. and just walked out from the same lane that you walked in. The bus stop back to the hotel is the opposite of the bus stop I got off earlier.

After we arrived at the hotel, we took a walk around the hotel for an hour. It was a shopping street just like the shopping streets in Seoul.

On 27 October, it was time to go back to Seoul. We took a 12 p.m. flight. There was an airport bus in front of the hotel to the airport.

The Duty Free Shop at Jeju Airport was very very big just like Incheon Airport.

Two days in Jeju was really short. I really wanted to stay more. I was totally in love with this island. Sadly that I didn't go to all the places yet but surely I will go there again soon! For more information about Jeju Travel Guide, visit http://english.jeju.go.kr.
