JM310: Editorial and Article Writing

8.00 a.m.
A-ring~
I was in the middle of a perfect dream cuddling in my bolster. I heard it. The deathly shriek of the alarm. I reached out to grab my iPhone and touched on the snooze button.

8.10 a.m.
A-ring~ A-ring~~
My eyes stood fast. I opened my eyes and I was awaked from my paradise, though I didn’t want to be. I jumped out of bed feeling like a ton of gravity pulling me down and reluctantly walked to bathroom.

8.35 a.m.
I was ready in a university uniform. I put on my favorite perfume. I grabbed my tuna sandwich, put it in my bag, and welcome my first day of junior year with a drowsy smile.

8.50 a.m.
I arrived at the familiar red-chair room gasping a deep breath and relieved that I wasn't late. I looked up to the door and stunned by the notices in front of the room.

“NO BAGS ALLOWED
TURN OFF ALL CELL PHONES
NO APPLE WATCH
NO ENTRY AFTER 9:00 AM
NO FOOD OR DRINKS
NO FRAGRANCE, etc...”

Wow. I thought I was prepared, wearing a university uniform, but I guess I was wrong. I sadly put down my bag and walked inside the classroom. This red-chair room used to be the classroom I love the most. A folding chair was so comfy where I used to sit back relaxing and enjoying my sandwich every morning. The atmosphere has changed during the Editorial and Article Writing class(JM310) with the most strictest professor, Mr. Bruce.

I was given with a set of class rules. The class was a technology-free classroom meaning that I can’t use all forms of technology even laptop. It was to the point where I couldn’t even yawn inside the classroom. I felt crazy with all these class rules. I remembered getting 5 minus points on my quiz just because I didn’t put a scotch tape on it.

“You are expected to study full time,” said Mr. Bruce

There was no joke in JM310 class. Everything was so intense. Three hours felt like three days. I first hated this class that I wished Monday were eliminated from every weeks. Not only the Monday class, but there were also two to three online assignments every week.

As time went by, it was not as bad as the beginning. Mr. Bruce actually understand his students. He became more flexible. Later, I was able to bring my bag and laptop inside the classroom. During the lost of King Bhumibol, he also extended all class assignments.

Thinking back of this course, it was the one subject that has taught me a lot of things. This course has prepared me to become a future journalist. The classroom is just like a real working environment. I became punctual and I have learnt how to work in group with unfamiliar friends. It was not only about writing an article, but I also gained knowledge on the interview techniques and learnt to be an investigative journalist. It did enjoyed this hardest course somehow. It gave me many new experiences. Thank to Mr. Bruce, I started to like writing a little by now.
